I am a veterinary surgeon. I spend my working life doing the operations this site answers questions about, which is the only reason the answers are worth paying for.

This service exists because of a pattern I could not ignore: friends, clients and GP vets kept bringing me the same kinds of questions. Does my dog really need this operation. Is this quote normal. Is this recovery going wrong. My vet suggested something and I do not know how to weigh it. Good questions, high stakes, and nowhere sensible to take them, because almost every surgical opinion an owner hears comes from someone who would also be paid to do the operation.
So this is the honest version: a surgeon you can put a question to directly, who is not quoting for the surgery, whose answer arrives in writing with the reasoning shown. I read every case myself. If a case is outside my competence I say so and point you to the right specialist. And when the kindest answer is not the operation, I say that too.
